This colorful DIY pom pom frame is a quick and easy way to brighten any room! Give your home a playful update in a matter of minutes!
Whew. The chaos is finally over.
For many, January is a time to recover from the holidays – a fresh start.
If you have a child with a birthday in January, however, the year often begins with party planning, rather than goal planning. Or any other planning, really. So the craziness of the holidays and a new year doesn’t really start to wear off until the end of the first month. Which means I start the year weeks behind where I would ideally. (So this post is waaay later than I wanted it to be. 😣)
But in the midst of all the madness, I still managed to add a bit more color to my own neck of the woods.
While most prefer cozy, neutral winter decor around this time of year, I usually feel the need to brighten up the bleak season. The days are grey and short and I’m a gal that thrives on color and sunshine. (Seriously, it’s weird how much the weather/daylight affects my mood.)
As y’all know, I love printables (and other simple/DIY wall art), and most of us have plenty of display-worthy photos we are eager to show off, so I’m always on the hunt for new, fun ways to feature my decor.
Cute frames are a little detail that can make a big difference. They’re an easy way to give your wall art an extra pop and your home an instant update.
But they can be expensive! And y’all know I love a good excuse to DIY!
Decorating a cheap frame yourself not only saves money, it adds a more personal touch, and it’s more fun!
So I decided to create a cute and colorful pom pom frame.
Pom poms are everywhere right now. They’re a simple way to add a little fun to everyday things.
You can add pom poms to almost anything for an easy, adorable update!
Apparently, most people can easily make their own pom poms with some yarn and a bit of practice. I, however, am not most people.
I just can’t seem to get the hang of that particular skill. Luckily, I can pick up a bag of pom poms wherever craft supplies are sold!
Or maybe I should get myself a pom pom maker already! 😜
You can decorate a (normal-sized) picture frame with pom poms in less than 15 minutes – making this DIY pom pom frame quick, easy, and totally in.
You probably already have a plain frame hanging around (pun totally intended) just waiting to be adorned with those adorable balls of fluff!
WHAT YOU NEED:
A PICTURE FRAME
HOT GLUE GUN
You can use any size frame you’d like – just make sure you have enough pom poms to cover it!
WHAT TO DO:
1. Glue a row of pom poms along the top of your frame.
Don’t forget to remove the glass first!
2. Glue ANOTHER ROW of pom poms under the first. (Repeat if necessary until The top of Your frame is covered.)
Make sure your pom poms are close enough together so the frame doesn’t show through, but don’t squish them too close together either! I find it best to try to offset the rows of pom poms.
3. Repeat along each side Until The Entire Frame is Covered.
I tried to not cluster the same colors together, but other than that there was no rhyme or reason to the pattern of my pom poms. I placed the colors randomly to keep it more playful.
Refresh any room in a matter of minutes and make your pictures pop with this pretty DIY pom pom frame!
I made the wall art above with a piece from a bag of felt dessert shapes I picked up from the Target Dollar Spot a while ago. I just glued it to a piece of cardstock and popped it into my new frame!
You can also type up a sweet quote or phrase and print it out for another simple decor idea to fill your frame!
Something else I love about this DIY is how versatile it is. (Y’all also know how much I love DIYs that can be adjusted to my own personal style!)
You can use pom poms that are all the same color or pick a color scheme if you like! It’s easy to make a DIY pom pom frame for every room in your home and every occasion you enjoy!
What else can we decorate with pom poms I wonder?
